Open Community Gathering

The Bergen Facilitation Collective is a local community of facilitators who develop their craft together.

Once a month, we meet as a Community of Practice to put our own challenges on the table, encounter different perspectives and reflect on what we are learning.

What is this Gathering about?

This is a chance to experience how we work together, get to know the people behind the collective and explore whether the community feels like a place for you.

If you’d like, join us from 12:00 for soup and lunch together before we begin.

We will spend time getting to know each other, sharing what brings us to facilitation and exploring what it means to be part of a community where developing the craft also means reflecting on ourselves as facilitators.

We will also work on a real facilitation case together. Someone will bring a situation they are currently grappling with, and we will use it to explore different perspectives, questions and possible ways of approaching it. The point is not to find the one right answer, but to see what becomes visible when several people think with the case together.

Expect conversation, reflection, a little experimentation and space for your questions.

Why a Community of Practice?

Good facilitation may look simple from the outside. Doing it well takes practice, reflection and self-awareness.

The collective gives us a place to keep developing that practice. We bring what we are grappling with, encounter different ways of seeing and working, question our assumptions and learn from what happens.

Between us, we bring different professional backgrounds, facilitation traditions and decades of experience. What connects us is curiosity about how people think, learn and create together, and a willingness to stay curious about what we do not yet see.

Who is it for?

You might call yourself a facilitator, process facilitator, workshop host, consultant, team lead, community builder, designer or something else entirely.

You do not need a particular certification or number of years of experience. You might be just starting out, have years of experience, or be looking for a way back into facilitation after some time away. What matters more is that facilitation is part of your practice, that you are curious about developing it, and that you want to learn alongside others.

We open the Community of Practice to new members twice a year, in September and February. If September is not the right moment, there will be another opportunity in the new year.

How to register

Come curious. Bring your experience, your questions and the things you are still figuring out.

If you would like to come to the Open Community Gathering, contact us (opens in a new tab) to let us know. We will try to set up a short conversation beforehand.
